Profile: Bill Mulhausen Orchestra

Bill Mulhausen was born in the United States but his parents came from Germany. His father came from the Koblenz area and his mother from the area of the Bodensee.

He began his career in music at the age of nine with the accordion. For six years he studied with Tops Cardone who played with Frankie Yankovic. Bill played professionally for over 45 years and also taught music privately for 18 years. His teaching included accordion, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and guitar.

The Bill Mulhausen Orchestra has performed throughout Ohio, the U.S.A. and Europe during the last 45 years. In our area they have played in such places as Otto's Brauhaus, Old Austria, the Rhinelander, Kiefer's Tavern, the German Central Farm. the Hofbrau Haus, Heidelberg Lounge, Edelweiss Restaurant, Das Gasthaus, Cleveland M?nnerchor Hall, Westside Sachsenheim and various Oktoberfests.

The band has been featured at clubs in Lorain, Kent, Dayton and Columbus.

Bill Mulhausen's Orchestra is unique in that it specializes in all types of authentic nationality music including Slovenian, Polish, Italian, Irish. Croatian and Hungarian as well as German. Their itinerary ranges from polka to rock, pop and country. Latin and big band. The present Mulhausen Orchestra consists of Paul Lawrence on the drums, Bob Gref on sax and clarinet, Mike Fisher on trumpet and Bill Mulhausen on accordion and vocals. At German activities the music is authentic and the men appear in lederhosen outfits.

The orchestra plays for weddings, parties, anniversaries, country clubs, restaurants and nationality festivals. They have appeared on TV and radio.
